Carbonated Australian Artesian Water, is a new exciting addition to beverages for Australia’s café and restaurant scene and for those that like the refreshing taste of a cold sparkling water.

Why the great taste?

The secret is in the minerals, Australian Artesian Water as a still water is a high alkaline mineral rich water.

This is very similar to what the great European table waters are like before carbonation. Sadly to say, there is a lack of good mineral rich water in Australia.

Only two sources of mineral rich water are readily recognised in Australia, water from the Daylesford Hepburn spa area of Victoria, and water from The Great Artesian Basin (GAB) that underlies one fifth of our landmass. Water from the GAB varies wildly in mineral content from location to location, but the artesian water sourced in Moree in Northern NSW is a high alkaline mineral rich water.

So why is the mineral content so important?

Carbonation, the introduction of CO2 gas to the water, produces not only bubbles but carbonic acid. This drops the pH of the water from 8.6 to 5.6, but the process is also the catalyst for accentuating and developing the flavour of the minerals in the water. When ordinary low pH low mineral content spring waters are carbonated, which most commercially available, locally sourced, sparkling waters are in Australia, the effects of carbonation are very much reduced if not irrelevant, except for the addition of bubbles.

So carbonation of Australian Artesian Water has not only produced a great tasting water, that is simply described as delicious and refreshing but it still has its minerals and ion content intact.

So in the tradition of “taking the waters” in the European manner, this makes the water great for re-hydration and as an all natural mineral shot. Why? Because of  the natural Bicarbonates, Sodium and Chlorides that create high levels of ions. Sodium is in your soft muscle tissue and Chlorides are in your blood and they help keep your body’s fluid levels clean and balanced. They are volatile and lost from your body by dehydration caused by anything from exercise to excessive partying. The high levels of minerals in this water create high levels of ions that are an adjuvant for fluid absorption, the more ions you have, the faster you absorb the fluids.

Carbonated Australian Artesian Water is totally natural. It is an all natural mineral shot.

This is an Australian water. It is sourced from an area world renowned for its mineral water, and carbonation has made it as every bit as good as imported table waters.

The other advantage in being Australian is that it has a much smaller carbon footprint than imported waters. We certainly don’t claim to be blame free in the controversy over bottled waters and the effects on the environment. However we do defend people’s right to choice of beverage they drink and how they drink it. Australian Artesian Water has not been moved around so much. The problem for imported waters as far as greenhouses gases are concerned is that it is a high volume, high weight commodity that commands a relatively low price. It is transported great distances at high costs using resources that could be used in a better and more efficient purpose.
